Installation problems 

Hi Frank,

I am using DNN V4.08.02 hosted with powerDNN.   I downloaded the community edition of V1.2.8.

The domain is www.ameliaislandroasts.com

I logged in as host, went to the Module Definitions page and Installed the modules.....no errors were reported.

I created the necessary pages (Store, Cart, Account and Admin) and set their permissions as required.

I added the various modules to the appropriate pages - again, no error messages reported

I navigated to the Store Admin page and entered the license that you provided and clicked update - No errors reported.

I found that if I restart the application, the license number disappears - is this expected?

I re-entered the license number and then went to the StoreAdmin->Product Types and attempted to create a product type. The page tells me that it was saved properly, but when I review the DB there is nothing in the table, and if I navigate back to the page, there are no product types listed. The same thing seems to happen with most pages.

If I go to Store Admin->Settings->Store Info, I am redirected to the "Orders" page....and there are no orders shown.

I reviewed my event logs by going to Admin->Event Viewer and there was an error about not being able to run a query related to countries....but I think that this is a secondary problem.

I logged in to the DB directly to review the contents of various AS_C_ tables and the EventLog to be empty, as well as most other tables (including Product Types).

Do you have a sense of what might be causing these problems, or how to go about diagnosing it?

I am happy to send you login credentials to the site as a host if that helps, just let me know.

It seems to me that some data like countries hasn't been initialized for current portal.

Do you have country data for your current portal besides portal -1 in AS_C_ShippingCountries?

What are the values for the following settings in AS_C_AppSettings?

AreCountriesInitialized
AreCreditCardTypesInitialized
AreEmailTemplatesInitialized
AreOrderStatusCodesInitialized
ArePaymentMethodsInitialized
ArePaymentStatusCodesInitialized
AreProcessesInitialized
AreShippingStatusCodesInitialized

Also I should mention that we save encryption keys in machine key store (new feature in .net 2.0), which requires extra permission most shared hosting acount don't have.

I checked on the ASC_ShippingCountries, and there were only records for portal -1.

The same held true for CCard Types, Email Templates etc.

Should they have been initialized when the module was installed, or do I have to do something to make that happen?

I asked my host (powerDNN) if I was running with full trust, and they told me I am. Should I uninstall and reinstall the module?

Let me know if DB access or host access is helpful to figure this out.

Among a few hundred installations, this issue only happened twice, including yours. I'm pretty sure it's related to DNN cache, but can't figure out why

Those static data should be created automatically the first time you visit Dashboard page.

What are the values for those settings? If they are 1, change them to 0 and restart application from Host tab. After that, click on Dashboard menu first and then check your database again. If this still can't fix it or the setting values are 0, please send me db access and Host account so I can investigate it further.

Paul fixed the issue by moving his site to a server running IIS6.
