This must be a bug, but hopefully easily changed.
It seems that tax amount is based on the total price cost (before discount applied) vs. the net amount (after discount)
So if you have a $1000 item, and you give a $500 discount, the tax should be $500 * 8.25% CA tax.
However, instead, it is being calculated as $1000 * 8.25% CA tax.
Tax should always be applied to the amt being paid out. Can you please tell me how I can make tax apply AFTER discount, and not before?
Another example--if you have a product for $1 and you offer a $1 coupon, should they pay 8 cents tax? no....
