Paypal express checkout for non paypal members

Each Alicommerce store, which uses Paypal express checkout, takes you to "Create a PayPal Account or Log In" screen. This screen is used for creating paypal account for non-paypal members.

However, there are shopping carts which takes you to another screen "Pay with credit card or Log in". In this screen creation of paypal account is optional.

I can provide one such example "http://shockingprice.com/" . However there are numerous such examples, in which those pages even show you order details.

Why can't Alicommerce do it? Even at Alicommerce website, you are confronted with "Create a PayPal Account or Log In" screen.

Just a note, above mentioned store is made with Zencart.

In alicommerce 2.0, you can turn on anynoymous checkout so that customers can pay by credit card or paypal without registration.

We turned off anoynymous checkout on this site.

The problem is not about anonymous checkout. I have gone through each Alicommerce website(around 10) listed in this forum. Half of them has anonymous checkout facility with mostly supporting Paypal. Non of them could get me to "Pay with Credit card or log in" page. All of them take you to "Create a paypal account or Log in" page.

"Pay with credit card or log in" is default in website payment standard, if paypal optional is on. However Paypal express checkout too has certain techniques for going to that page. Zencart employs those methods. And it highlights it too. It is open source.

paypal website standard has some unique advantage. It has the facility of uploading shopping cart too. Why can't it be implemented?

I mean give us a wayout to bypass paypal signing up. This is a big put off for any prospective customer.

Ok, now I understand what you said now. Many thanks for the feedback. We will investigate the possibility to include it in paypal express checkout.

We don't support paypal standard because we have a lot of code run on shopping cart page (checking inventory, min order amount, coupon code, etc.), which means our cart page can not be replaced by paypal shopping cart page.

In website standard, There is no need for you to replace your shopping cart with paypal shopping cart at all. You can run all your code, and after that simply upload final content of your cart to paypal. Even this is optional. In case, you don't upload it, the flow would be same as Paypal express checkout.

Perhaps you misread paypal standard.

Just to confirm, the only way to get a customer to pay with a credit card is to have a separate merchant service like PayPal Website Payments Pro.

So PayPal express is really for people who already have a PP account, or are willing to create one on checkout.

To use a Credit Card requires a merchant account.

I think this is what Kaitan is talking about. PayPal Payments Standard

He has me a little concerned now. I don't think you should force your customer to take an additional step if it is not needed. Merchants should give customers as many options as possible to pay while avoiding monthly charges as much as possible.

I have used my PayPal Standard account with the core DNN store. It brings you to a page that allows you to choose credit card or login to PayPal.
