"Reserved" items and price changes

Our store frequently puts things on "sale" for a short period of time (usually about 36 hours). As AliCommerce doesn't come equipped with a discount module outside of volume discounts, we simply change the price by hand, then change it back at the moment the sale is set to end. This seems to work, for the most part (although a scheduled discount period would be a lovely addition to AliCommerce).

However, we are seeing orders come through at the sale price as much as a week after the price has been changed back to its original full price. What's up? Will it help if we purge users' shopping carts the moment the sale ends, or is that irrelevant? Regardless, since the sale price ends at a certain predetermined time, clearing shopping carts more than a day old will still allow users to purchase the item the following day, after the sale is over. I need to know how to properly change a price and keep it changed, to prevent customers ordering items at their previous price.

Also, I'm a bit confused by the "Reserved" inventory flag. What does this mean, exactly? How do I clear it?

In AliCommerce 1.x, you have to clear shopping cart to prevent outdated prices. In AliCommerce 2.0, I think the prices in shopping cart are updated automatically.

To clear "reserved" amount, you have to ship the reserved product.

Re: "Reserved" items and price changes

Okay, understood. But by changing the days to clear shopping cart to 0, am I clearing everything, even items just added to carts?

I'm pretty sure it clears everything in AliCommerce 2.0. Not quite sure if it works as designed in Alicommerce 1.x though.
